Donald Trump Has a Button on His Desk for the Sole Purpose of Ordering Coca-Cola

POTUS really, really loves soda.

How much does Donald Trump love Coca-Cola? So, so much, according to a nugget unearthed from his recent Associated Press interview:

A man accustomed to wealth and its trappings, Trump has embraced life in the Executive Mansion, often regaling guests with trivia about the historic decor. With the push of a red button placed on the Resolute Desk that presidents have used for decades, a White House butler soon arrived with a Coke for the president.

To recap: he bragged to a reporter about having a Coke button in a wooden box on his desk just like a small child might tug on their parent's shirt and yell "look what I can do!" after finally mastering the hula hoop.

At the very least, Trump told White House staff in advance of the AP reporter's visit that pushing the red button that day meant "bring me a Coke." But that's being extremely generous. Trump has been photographed multiple times with a tall glass of soda on his desk, including when speaking with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Australian Prime Minister Malcom Turnbull. (That last call didn't go so hot.)

No, it's more likely that this button is a full-time arrangement, the same as keeping Lay's potato chips stocked in the White House kitchen. It's unclear whether the Coke button summons delivery of regular or diet, the type he seems to prefer, but neither is good. Trump doesn't drink tea or coffee so when he's looking for energy (and lord knows he's not getting much help on that front from his horrific diet) he orders up a soda containing either a shit ton of sugar (cue the hula-hooping kid) or fake sugar, which is becoming scarier by the day.

The button, however, is an upgrade in politeness from Trump's old ordering method, which a Bloomberg reporter witnessed firsthand and consisted of POTUS bellowing "toward his open office door, 'Bring a Coke and a water, please!'"
