Colorblind NFL Fans Confused By New Jets and Bills Uniforms

Imagine being a colorblind player out there.

Here's what tonight's NFL game looks like to people with red-green colorblindness: https://t.co/xjGrDXiXI5 pic.twitter.com/2IRSKpqCGf

Thankfully, there was no blue-dress/white-dress conundrum on this one. The aesthetics of the Jets-Bills game seemed more than a little off to a certain swath of NFL fans last night, with the Jets and Bills new color rush jerseys rendering themselves nearly indecipherable from each other. But, by the grace of God, the internet got to the bottom of it quickly. It turns out red-green colorblind fans were the crowd that was screwed on this one.

But take a look, regular-sighted people. The above-video is what the game looked like to the portion of the world (250 million worldwide with 8 percent of all men and 0.5 percent of women) who have a mutated cone-receptor-to-brain connection—the cause for colorblindness.

Here's what the game looked like to color-sighted people (apologies, colorblind peeps; there likely is no difference here):

Imagine watching that shove in the final moments of this gif, without being able to differentiate whether or not they were on the same team. Surely, there'll be mutiny on the green team's sidelines, what with teammates fighting each other, no? These kinds of questions must've made the experience maddening.

Needless to say, colorblind Twitter (is color-blind Twitter a thing?) aired their grievances.

I am actually incapable of watching this game as a colorblind person. every player is on the same team as far as I know.

Hey @nyjets & @buffalobills, you have any idea what % of your audience is red/green colorblind? Please look it up & think next time. #stupid

If you are colorblind like me this @NFL game is going to be hard to follow. @buffalobills vs @nyjets

Hey @NFL, this game is near impossible to watch for people who are red/green color blind. #ColorRush

#BUFvsNYJ in black and white was a lot easier for us colorblind to see than tonight. https://t.co/XuqgHRgoNy

Sure, everyone's talking about the fans here. But imagine being on the field:

@darrenrovell What happens if a player is red/green colorblind in this Jets/Bills game?
